Citizens of non-eligible countries
All other nationals must apply for a valid UK visa in the UK Visa Waiver Agreement. This will usually involve visiting your area’s nearest British Embassy or UK Visa Consultant.
Applying for an ETA online could be faster than the manual visa process. A decision may be made within three weeks, excluding delays, depending on the visa type and the applicant’s circumstances. Therefore, applying for a visa well before your departure date is best.
Requirements for arriving with an ETA to the UK
By 2025, the UK expects borders to be fully digital. This means travelers will only need to scan the passport they used to apply for the ETA upon arrival in the country.
Those with dual passports or dual citizenship must enter the UK using the same document to register for Electronic Travel Authorization. Your visa waiver will be cancelled if you enter the UK on a passport not electronically linked to an ETA.
